Beauty Advice for Summer Skin

Who doesn't want to bare some beautiful skin in the summer? All winter long your arms and legs have been hidden under layers of clothes - now is the time to heed some beauty advice from the pros and make a gorgeous transition to summer.

  1. Start with smooth skin. Time to buff away dead winter cells and reveal fresh, smooth younger skin. Peter Thomas Roth Botanical Buffing Beads is suitable for the entire body but if hot weather brings out your inner athlete (and body blemishes) try the PTR Blemish Buffing Beads for a 2-in-1 treat!!
  2. Get your nose ready for scrumptious, summer scents and set aside your heavy moisturizers for a while. Move to a mid or lighter weight product that has a delicious fragrance like NEW Yonka Vital Defense for Face and Yonka Ginseng Lotion for Body.
  3. Get a tan the safe way- with self tanner! We all want a golden glow, but sun exposure can be damaging so get that beautiful sun kissed look with NEW Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pad Self-Tanner. This convenient tanning pad provides surface exfoliation for super even application, mega-antioxidants for anti-aging protection, and a safe gorgeous tan all at the same time. You won't need makeup!!
  4. Be sweet to your tootsies. Dr. Hauschka St. John's Wort Foot Cream will soften and heal dry, rough and cracked feet. Say bye-bye to socks and hello flip-flops!!
  5. Out with the old, in with the new…. Sunscreen that is! Don't forget that in order to get the benefit from your SPF, it can't be old and expired. Stock up on some new tubes to start this summer out right. Obagi Healthy Skin Protection SPF 35 contains broad spectrum UVA and UVB filters plus natural physical sunscreens to block the full spectrum of rays all the way up to 380 nanometers. And right now it's on SALE!
  6. Perk up with a new foundation. You will most likely need to adjust the color of your favorite daily makeup as you spend more time outdoors, but you may want to change the formula of your cosmetics too. If you would prefer a less shiny and more matte complexion then try a pressed powder for the hot summer months. Our clients love TRUE Protective Mineral Foundation with SPF 17. Not only do you get your daily dose of SPF, it is also fortified with Idebehone which offers tremendous protection against free radical damage. Anti-aging makeup!!
  7. Fight the summer frizz. A long day of heat and summer weather can work against your stylish haircut but Barex Italiana De-Frizzante Spray keeps the frizz at bay by blocking humidity and taming tresses. A few spritzes will instantly reclaim unmanageable hair.

Refresh Your Skin With These Exfoliation Tips!

Stay younger looking by exfoliating regularly! Exfoliation of the skin reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles, rids skin of dead cells and keeps pores clean and clear so skin stays soft and supple, fresh and radiant!
There are two types of exfoliants: chemical and mechanical. Most people use a combination of both types in their skin care routine.
Chemical exfoliants dissolve the "glue" that trap dead skin cells in pores and to the surface layers of the skin. By dissolving this glue the dead skin and cellular debris are shed revealing younger skin and a smoother, healthier complexion underneath. Some examples of Chemical exfoliants include salicylic acid, glycolic acid, fruit enzymes, citric acid or malic acid. These Chemical exfoliants may be applied in high concentrations by a medical professional, or in lower concentrations in over-the-counter products.
Mechanical exfoliants work by gently buffing away surface skin cells which encourages new skin cells to surface at a more rapid rate. Dead skin cells are swept away and fine lines are minimized, pores are cleared and newer skin is revealed. Mechanical exfoliants include sugar or salt crystals, micro-bead facial scrubs, crushed apricot kernel or almond shells, and cloths such as sponges, loofahs or brushes.
By exfoliating on a regular basis, you are encouraging your skin to regenerate at a faster rate, thereby increasing cellular turnover which will help improve firmness, texture, skin tone, and help support healthy collagen for a more youthful and radiant glow!
